Rob has been a musician most of his life, starting with the trombone and alto sax in High School band in Reform Alabama. He then took up the guitar and bass and he learned various songs and fingering techniques.
Since he was very young Rob has always had a desire to solve the problems of electronic equipment and to repair it to make it functional.
In the Early 80’s Rob developed an interest in the way radios and other equipment worked, and landed his first job at a TV and Radio Repair shop.
He then went on to become an Electronics Tech in the U.S. Navy from 1981 to 1987 where he honed his skills doing maintenance and repair of radio communications equipment on a Destroyer.
From there he went to work on the Assembly line at Peavey Electronics in Meridian Mississippi and further developed his training and know-how in this field where he worked on vintage amps.
Then for many years he became an engineer in Hollywood, CA and worked to help trouble shoot problem areas in a historic landmark hotel.
His career moves then took him back to Amp repairs in 2019 when he landed a job at Caveman Vintage Music in Los Angeles, doing Vintage guitar & bass amp repair.
Rob would often find old amps and equipment to fix at swap meets, fairs, and other places and fix them up as a hobby. He would tell musicians about his skills, and instantly get requests to fix their amps and guitars. He got rave reviews of his products and his attention to detail, and the word of mouth created more business for him. It was then that Beast Amps and Axes was born and the name stuck!
In his move to Seminole FL in 2022 he further generated more business by doing work for Replay Guitars, whereby the store knew they could rely on Rob to repair their customers’ amps that they weren’t equipped to fix. Rob puts that extra care into every product he works on, and often amazes his customers at the level of skill he has in getting equipment to perform at high standards.
